“True Knights only show their strength in combat.” The instructor paced up and down the ranks as he taught the young hopefuls. “Not all of you will make the cut. Only the fearless will survive. You have been trained by the best, it is now time for the final test.”
A trumpet sounded but this was not the sound of the mock-battle nor the sound of an enemy approaching, this trumpet blast was the reverberation announcing the King.
He came riding in on his jet black horse and all the men stood to attention as the King rode by. He dismounted and in unison every man kneeled.
“Please stand.” His voice was loud and commanding. “I know you all have been trained to join our most esteemed Knights of the realm and I also know today was to be your assessment day but I need you.” Urgency was in every syllable, “I need you to be my soldiers. We have been attacked on the east border.” The King turned to the General “Are your men ready?”
“Yes your Majesty!”

Today Americans remember all those who have chosen to give their lives for our freedom, protection and safety. Not only do we honor the soldiers who fight for us but also those firefighters, EMT’s, and police who protect us! Thank God!
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God such men lived.”
– George S. Patton
